Lightbox Signage in Singapore
A lightbox is a carcass with internal LED and a replaceable face. It is the right tool when the artwork will change (promotions, menus, tenant faces) or when you want even illumination across a rectangle rather than individual letters.
I-SIGNAGE builds classic acrylic-face boxes and frameless fabric (tension textile) boxes. Fabric wins for large, seamless graphics; acrylic wins for small outdoor shop signs that take rain on the face.
Classic vs fabric
Classic: aluminium frame, opal or printed acrylic face, LED modules or strips on the back tray. Faces can be single or double sided. Outdoor boxes are gasketed; we do not use poster frames as outdoor lightboxes.
Frameless fabric: silicone-edge graphic pulled into an aluminium extrusion, even edge lighting or back lighting. Graphics swap without tools. Best indoors or under a canopy; fully exposed monsoon faces still prefer a rigid acrylic or polycarbonate face.
Even light — why some boxes look patchy
Patchy light is almost always module spacing vs depth. A shallow 60 mm box with a busy photo needs denser LEDs or a diffuser stack. We design depth and module layout together. Power supplies sit in a side channel or rear tray with ventilation, not inside a sealed 40 mm profile that cooks drivers at 3 pm on Orchard Road.
Mounting and access
Wall-mounted, ceiling-hung, double-sided projecting, or built into joinery. Ceiling-hung boxes need rated hanging points — we will not hang a 2.4 m fabric box from a plasterboard ceiling without a plywood spreader or structural check.

Can I change the fabric graphic myself?
Yes on tension-fabric systems — that is the point. We supply a spare graphic or a print-ready template so the next campaign does not require a site visit.
Are lightboxes cheaper than channel letters?
For a simple rectangular name, often yes. For a script logo that must look like letters, channel letters read better and the lightbox becomes a compromise.
Do outdoor lightboxes yellow?
Cheap faces do. We spec UV-stable opal / printed acrylic or polycarbonate and outdoor LEDs. Faces are still a wear part — budget a reprint every few years on a west-facing shop.
Single or double sided?
Double sided for a perpendicular blade or a glass shop that must read from inside and out. Single sided for a wall fascia.
